I Be Black Girl believes policy is a driver for change within our approach to reproductive justice. Policy has historically been weaponized against Black communities. As a result, we are committed to building Black political power to address the harm and chart a new experience of legislation that centers Black women, femmes and girls.

Using a Collective Action Framework, I Be Black Girl is catalyzing a movement to disrupt the systems that perpetuate incidence of maternal morbidity, mortality and traumatic care experiences using strategies that center the voices, experiences, and leadership of Black women and Black birthing people. We deserve to not just live through our birthing experiences but thrive.

I Be Black Girl’s priority is to abolish pay equity gaps and work to give Black women, femmes and girls the ability to live whole, abundant lives.

The 2025 Reproductive Justice Summit: Tending to Our Gardens, powered by I Be Black Girl will be held on August 21-22, 2025 in Omaha, Nebraska.

This transformative convening is key in building a community-based movement centered in liberation. We will have meaningful conversations and learning alongside each other around crucial issues and opportunities in reproductive health, economic justice, political power and more.

2023 reproductive justice summit

Our inaugural summit in 2023 saw us sharing space, community, conversation and learning with you all in such a beautiful and meaningful way.

From our lineup of amazing mainstage speakers, including Charlene Carruthers, Jennie Joseph, and Dominique Morgan, sharing their truths to THE Dr. Angela Davis, sharing her ever-flowing wisdom of the work and how the local is global. Our breakout speakers gave our attendees a closer look at the intricacies of the Reproductive Justice movement and how interconnected all facets of our lives are in the work. Along with an array of organizations and small businesses that lined the halls of the summit. It was truly a time to be had.
